I like to go through them all in January and compile my list of TBRs for that calendar year. I don't have much downtime to enjoy a good book, so I started strong with a solid 12 books on my list. Yes, twelve... According to my Goodreads account, I am up to nine so far. (Insert slightly embarrassed face here.) There's no rhyme or reason to my choices, so I'm just going to share some of my 5-star picks with you. - Where Are the Children? - Mary Higgins Clark is a psychological thriller that kept me captivated to the very end. A woman wrongfully accused of killing her two small children finds herself in the same predicament years later. It is the same scenario and the same conclusions being drawn, but not an outcome you'd predict in the end.
- Mockingbird—Kathryn Erskine is an early middle-grade read about a girl with Autism who loses her brother in a school shooting. He was her nudge when she needed help in difficult situations. He taught her how to "not be weird." Now she has to teach herself to find closure. Along the way, friends are made, and lasting memories turn out to be not so sad after all.
- The Last Winter - Holly Monroe is a romantasy (fantasy with romance). And, boy, does it have spice! This one had a Hunger Games appeal to me. The female main character has to go on a race in order to leave the poor human towns and live in the world of the gods. Little does she know, the truth is nothing like what it's made out to be.
- Double Blind - Dan Alatorre is a fast-paced murder mystery that throws a few loops into your predictions. There's a serial killer with no specific type of victim. He kills a trucker, a tourist, and two members of a wealthy family before targeting a detective. *Gruesome descriptions in this one.*
- Silver Linings Drawn - Elisa Ann Pratt is one for you romance readers. (Elisa is an author I came across on TikTok.) ***Trigger Warnings*** The female main character flees an abusive relationship and starts over in the city with her best friend. She finds healing, love, and herself again.
As you can see from just these five, my reading is all over the place. But what reader isn't enjoying multiple genres? I hope I'm able to add to your never-ending TBR by sharing these with you. The links are linked to the titles for you to snag if you'd like. (As usual, the links are affiliates through Amazon, and I may get a small commission from your purchase.) | | | |
