At Fleetwood Area High School, two seniors took it upon themselves to create a Fleetwood sports podcast. It is hosted by seniors Ben Koncsics and Jeffrey Brown.
"We created the podcast really just to have fun and put something up on the school's TVs. We felt that school sports weren't really getting covered, so we decided to try and fix that," Brown said
This podcast goes over many things, including professional and school sports.
"We always start by covering school sports and then get into major professional sports news," Brown said
Fans of the podcast are particularly fond of the most recent release. in it, Jeffrey and Ben face off in a trivia match, and the loser has to eat a clove of garlic. They plan on doing more podcasts like this one because of the audience reaction.
"I still had that garlic taste in my mouth for the whole day, and it was terrible," Koncsics said.
Everything comes to an end eventually, though, because these two are graduating on June 7th. They hope to keep it going during the summer, trying to make "in real life" videos in the same format they have been using.
"We absolutely have a blast filming, and I'm so glad that we were able to get a chance to make the sportscast happen, and we wish we would have thought of it sooner," Brown said.
Overall, the fan reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.
"It was super entertaining, and I hope they make more podcast episodes like that," Ryan Hechler said.
The podcast is not only reaching out to students either. English teacher Mr. Andrew Good, who teaches Sports Media One and Two, played it for the class. Everyone enjoyed it, including Mr. Good.
"I'm proud of Jeff and Ben for putting themselves out there on YouTube and expressing their creativity and individuality for all to see. I found their sportscast entertaining," Good said.
