I need your help!You may not know that yearly paying subscribers have the perk of writing an email to me with a friendship dilemma and a personal response. Nobody has taken me up on that offer, even though I do have plenty of people paying for the year. So, the personal email exchange is obviously not a perk people want. And that might be because I’m already very active in the Facebook Group where readers and listeners share friendship dilemmas. But people are signing up anyway for the yearly or monthly option. So, why? I assume you sign up for access to the Dear Nina Friendship Dilemma Library that I add to each month. Or, you’re signing up to support me, this newsletter, the podcast, and/or the Facebook Group. Those are all good reasons! And I appreciate it! If you know me in real life or follow me on Instagram or TikTok (or here on Substack!) or even on LinkedIn, then you know I did a sold-out live show in Minneapolis last week in front of 200 people to celebrate five years of Dear Nina: Conversations About Friendship (the podcast). I’ve been crowing about it everywhere, including on a local news show, Twin Cities Live. And I’m not going to apologize for that. It was a big deal and a HUGE undertaking! I could not have done it without the help of my assistant producer, Rebekah Jacobs, or without Minneapolis event planner Haley Lerner of Haley Joy Events. I did not record the “episode,” which was disappointing to some local people who couldn’t be there. I wanted this to be an-person only experience. I have 205 other episodes anyone can hear at any time! I am excited, however, to share a quick reel here of what the event was like. I have more to say about this whole experience of being IN PERSON instead of behind a mic, and what it taught me about showing up for others (in person). More on that in a week or two.
Other happenings around hereA few weeks ago I released an episode called “Go Where the Heat Is” with my husband, Bryan. He hasn’t been on the podcast since the first year. We reflected on the main friendship “thing” I’m still working on in my own friendships. And what listening to over 200 episodes has taught him about friendship.
