If you desire remote income, that could be for a variety of reasons - maybe you love to travel, maybe you'd rather avoid a pain-in-the-ass commute, or maybe you can't stand the politics and coworker drama of the office.
Of course, if you're an introvert, then wanting to work remotely doesn't necessarily mean you want to be on the phone or on videoconferences all the time - you might instead prefer ways to earn a living that are a little less...peopley.
Some of these options also lend themselves to the possibility of passive income, at least eventually. This is truly everyone's dream!
Accordingly, here are some remote income ideas for introverts:
Young man working quietly at a desk.
Writer/Blogger
This is a favorite occupation of introverts everywhere, and for good reason.
There's nothing like sitting at your kitchen table, or beside a fire on a chilly day, or outside on a warm and sunny day; and putting your ideas and thoughts into written words.
Especially when you can make good money doing it - which is the tricky part, and takes some time and effort.
See here for more about starting your blog.
Home, Pet, and Garden Sitting
While people are away, they often need someone to watch their house, pets, and gardens. This is a gig that doesn't require much human interaction. You can build up referrals quickly if you're reliable, trustworthy, and do the job with care.
Search Engine Evaluator
This is a job to consider if you either don't have much work experience; or need to change your career because your current one is incompatible with working remotely, and you want someone else to do in the meantime. Of course, the very low barriers to entry means that this doesn't pay a whole lot.
Search engine evaluators perform search engine searches, and then rate the accuracy and relevancy of the results. This helps search engine companies make sure that searchers are getting the results they want and need to the questions they ask.
See here for more about becoming a search engine evaluator.
Proofreader/Editor (Print and Video)
People publishing e-books and making videos need others to review their work, and make sure it's error-free and flows as it should. If you're detail-oriented, and skilled in writing or video media, this could be good for you.
Photographer
If you love taking photos and have a good eye for what will attract others' attention, you could take photos and sell them to companies that sell stock photos. You would then get royalties when someone buys your photos.
Bookkeeper
Every business needs to manage its finances; and make sure that all the bills get paid, accounts payable are received, and that all proper records are kept. A bookkeeper helps companies do all of this.
Social Media Manager
Businesses needs to market themselves online, and a social media manager can help them do that. By coordinating campaigns to promote a company and build positive relations with customers through social media, a social media manager plays a key role in digital business marketing.
Actuary
If you're a numbers person who's willing and able to put time and some resources into developing this career path, you could be rewarded with well-paying work that can be done remotely, and satisfy your knack for analyzing data, statistics, and making predictions.
Companies hire actuaries to do things like figure out mortality rates, predict product sales growth, or predict the likelihood of future events.
Software Developer
This field has been growing for many years, as computer technology increasingly supports our current ways of life.
Software developers help make that happen, and with some training and experience, this is a great career trajectory. It also doesn't require a lot of interaction with other people, or with the public. Accordingly, it could be a great career for an introvert.
Graphic Designer
If you've got a creative streak, and well developed artistic abilities, you could consider being a graphic designer. This work can also lend itself to lots of time working alone.
Virtual Assistant
All kinds of companies and industries need administrative assistants, and these positions vary widely in their qualifications requirements, as well as in their compensation.
Increasingly, these positions are going remote more, as administrative assistants are able to do more of their duties online.
Selling Online
If you've ever dreamed of starting an online store, and like the idea of being an entrepreneur, then opening your own business online could be for you.
With modern digital infrastructure available like online selling platforms, dropshipping, and affiliate marketing; there are a lot of options to get you started.
See here for a more detailed post about selling items online.
Search Engine Optimizer
A search engine optimizer helps companies grow their business and drive sales by maximizing their ability to appear in search engine results. This is a great niche of digital marketing. It's also great for working remotely.
Email Marketing
Another aspect of businesses marketing themselves digitally is through the use of email marketing campaigns. Don't worry, this doesn't mean sending out lots of spam. Instead, you would develop email campaigns to people interested in hearing from companies, in order to help drive more sales.
Online Courses
If you have extensive knowledge in a particular area, chances are that someone would pay for an online course to learn more about it - whether to develop their career, learn a new skill, or even just for fun. You could develop online courses and market them.
See here for more about choosing your online course topics.
