It is my pleasure to host author David Lucky on my blog today. His book, Exposing Putin's Lies, recently became number one on Amazon list in the following categories: #1 in Political Freedom / # 1 in History of Russia & Former Soviet Republics / # 1 in Politics & Government, Ideologies & Doctrines / # 1 in International & World Politics .
What made you pen down this book?
After doing a lot of reading, and engaging in many discussions with people, I could see that a lot of people are generally confused about what is going on with this Russian invasion of Ukraine. In general, most people in the West believe that Russia is the aggressor and that Ukraine is the victim of this crisis. However, there is a growing segment of society who believe that Russia is the victim and that it is the western countries, along with the globalists who started this war. Those theories are all wrong and are being pushed by the Russian apologists and their trolls. The problem is that the average person does not know why the Russian propaganda is wrong, and many people remain is a state of confusion and doubt. A friend of mine, who did not know that I was writing this book, even told me that he heard from some retired politician that the US was wrong and started this war because they broke some treaty with Russia to not expand NATO. That is all wrong for multiple reasons, and that kind of false propaganda needs to be exposed. There are many, many people standing up for Ukraine, but I saw very few people debunking and refuting the Russian propaganda. I wanted to write a book that would cover all of the major issues and all of the major talking points. I wanted to write a book that would give the average person the tools to confront the Russian apologists, rather than running away from debate.
What should readers expect from it?
Readers will gain a lot of clarity and understanding regarding the information war, and the conflicting narratives about the invasion of Ukraine. A lot of people are confused right now, and don't know what to believe. Readers of this book will be able to stand up to any Russian apologist, or troll. They will gain a complete understanding of all of the relevant issues and talking points in this international conflict.
What kind of research did you do for this book?
I have been researching these issues for more than five months, and before the war started on February 24th. I have read numerous articles, and blog posts on all sides of the issue. I read everything I could find in support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In the final analysis, all of the arguments in support of the Russian invasion are all based on lies and propaganda. I have also previously traveled to both Russia and Ukraine multiple times, along with about 25 other countries. In addition, I have a degree in Philosophy, and I have been studying these types of political philosophy dynamics for many years.
How long did it take you to write it?
It took about five months to write the book. I started out writing some articles which were posted on Facebook in early March, shortly after the Russian invasion began.
Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Yes, I have always wanted to be a writer. I started out writing in school, and I have always believed in the motto "the pen is mightier than the sword."
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I play tennis, exercise, go for walks, observe nature, feed the squirrels that come by every day, and read a lot.
Are there any new projects underway?
Yes, there are a couple of projects. One of the projects deals with the dehumanizing and dystopian effects that technology has on the individual psyche, and society at large.
