Lowen is a writer who has always kept a low profile and did her best to avoid any sort of attention, especially after losing her mother. The one thing Lowen needs to keep this up is money, and when an odd but incredible opportunity presents itself, Lowen has no choice but to take it. Lowen finds herself being introduced to Jeremey Crawford, husband of accomplished writer, Verity Crawford. Lowen's task is to finish the series Verity was working on before a car accident left her immobile and unresponsive. To do her research, Lowen heads to their house and beings to ransack Verity's office. What she finds there, is a manuscript of an autobiography that reveals secrets about Verity that would shake anyone to their core. Lowen needs to decide if she should reveal these secrets to Jeremy, the man she is falling for, or let Verity continue to bury her own grave.

Okay, I think I summed it up pretty good but WOW. This novel was such a rollercoaster. I had seen it on my tik tok for MONTHS and knew I needed to read it but since Colleen Hoover blew up so much this year, her books have been hard to get. I got this one with a gift card from xmas that my sister got me to Bookshop.org. - they support small bookstores!
This novel was for sure a thriller, but when it's written by a romance writer, it is just more my style. It was dark but not unsettling. Gillian Flynn novels are too gruesome, for example- can't read those. This was perfectly written in the sense that it flowed well and every loose end was tied together by the end. I loved all of the characters, even Verity and I thought the setting was perfect. I truly can't believe this isn't a movie yet! The biggest question/controversy with this book is the ending. I was just as shocked as everyone said I would be, but I am firmly on team Lowen, all the way and I don't believe Verity for a second! If you read this, let me know what you think!
Overall, I 10000000% recommend this novel, it's a must.
Don't forget to follow me on GoodReads to keep up with what I am reading!
