HNB Assurance PLC (HNBA) yesterday announced the recent appointment of Ashoka Goonesekere as a Non-Executive Independent Director. 

Accordingly, the Board of Directors of HNBA comprises of Rose Cooray, Siromi Wickramasinghe, Dr. Sivakumar Selliah, Dilshan Rodrigo, Ravi Abeysuriya, Damien Fernando, Stuart Chapman, Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe and Ashoka Goonesekere.

With over 36 years of experience in the Banking Sector, Goonesekere has overlooked several functions ranging from financial reporting, financial management, taxation, financial operations and risk management. Goonesekere has been among the corporate management of Hatton National Bank PLC as the Chief Financial Officer and in DFCC Bank PLC as the Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President Integrated Risk Management/Chief Risk Officer. 

Goonesekere has also served in several Boards including Acuity Partners Ltd., Acuity Stock Brokers Ltd., Acuity Securities Ltd. and of Sithma Development Ltd., as well as the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board and in addition he has chaired and served in several Board subcommittees.
