You know what we all really deserve? Some new, unapologetically horny television. Even better if it's horny literary television. Apparently, this is what we will soon receive in the form of Netflix's adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover. Though the book, which was declared obscene in several countries—including the US, where it was banned for many years—is famous for its sex scenes, it's actually much more crude (for its time) than anything else: the prosecutor who challenged the novel under the UK's Obscene Publications Act tried to prove its lack of literary merit by counting all its uses of "fuck" and "balls" and "shit" and "arse," among other terms. (Also indecent, according to him, was the number of times Lawrence used the words "womb" and "bowels.") Still, maybe Netflix will take up Lawrence's spirit by turning the show into something that still feels scandalous in our current over-stimulated times?

Emma Corrin (The Crown) will star as Lady Constance Chatterly, and Jack O'Connell will play her Lover, Oliver Mellors. I personally don't think it will have to be all that raunchy to top Bridgerton (were we watching the same show?), but hopefully it will bring us all a similar amount of joy.
